Syracuse’s sophomore point guard Tyus J Jones is the top recruiting class in 2018 according to Rivals.com, which ranks the nation’s top 10 players.
Jones will join a class that also includes Florida’s Malik Jefferson, Kansas’ Kadeem Allen, Georgia’s De’Aaron Fox, Georgia Tech’s Marcus Allen, Oregon’s Aaron Craft and Oklahoma’s Kyle Anderson.
The list includes five players in the top five of Rivals.
Jones is ranked as the No. 1 player in the class.
“Tyus Jones is one of the most talented point guards in this class,” Rivals’ Derek Mason wrote.
“His size, quickness and athleticism make him a natural fit in the NBA.
He’s going to have a huge year at Syracuse.
He’ll likely be the best guard in this draft class.”
Jones is also the No 1 player on ESPN.com’s Top 100 Players of 2018.
“He has the size and length that the NBA is looking for in its point guards,” Mason wrote, noting that he will be the second-best player in this year’s class.
“He’s a natural leader on the court, can defend, rebound, score, pass and is a high-IQ passer.”
Jones will have a big year in 2018 as he becomes the fifth player in history to go from high school to the NBA Draft.
He is the only one of those five players to go to one school, and he is the first to go in the first round.
