UAB basketball loses to Tennessee to improve to 2-1
UAB will look to build on its dominant win over Tennessee on Friday night when it hosts the Vols in an exhibition game at U.S. Cellular Arena.
The Blazers, who were 2-0 when leading at halftime, trailed by 10 points entering the fourth quarter.
The senior-heavy Blazers outrebounded the Volans 58-42, but UAB was unable to overcome an 11-2 deficit.
The Blazers had 15 assists and 11 turnovers.
UAB shot 36 percent, including 6 of 11 from 3-point range.
The Vols shot 56 percent, led by eight points from freshman guard Jalen Brunson, who had 16 points.
Junior guard Jalent Frazier, who scored 10 points and grabbed 10 rebounds, finished with seven points and five rebounds.
Freshman forward D’Andre Butler had 10 points.
Freshmen guard Jordan Evans scored nine points.
Sophomore guard Luke Johnson scored eight.
Junior guard Marcus Lee had seven points.
The Gators shot 51 percent (4 of 12) from the field and held UAB to 33 percent shooting (27 of 78).
The Blazers are now 1-1 in exhibition play after losing their last two games to Florida State and Georgia Tech.
