How the Adidas College Basketball Schedule is the Biggest Game of the Season

For the last several weeks, fans of the University of Maryland basketball team have been waiting for the big game.
On Saturday, March 1, the Terps will face Duke.
But for fans who are more familiar with the sport of basketball, it’s also the biggest game of the season.
“It’s not like we’re going to be in the NBA or the NFL,” said Michael Laudrup, a Maryland student who is the team’s president.
“The biggest thing we can do is play the games we love.”
The biggest game at the College Park, Maryland campus, will be a basketball game against Duke, the reigning national champion, on March 1.
But, like many of the other biggest games of the year, it will also be the game fans will have to watch from afar.
For the last few weeks, Maryland has been playing games with a basketball-themed hashtag.
For those who are not familiar with it, it is a play on the hashtag “The Big Game,” which was a reference to the famous 1979 game between the University and the University on the last day of the NCAA tournament, when Maryland beat Duke 71-63.
“We wanted to take the name ‘The BigGame’ and create something for fans that’s familiar to them, something they can see, something that feels like it’s happening on the basketball court,” said Laudrps.
For Maryland fans, this is the best chance to see some of the players they love, and they’re not only getting to watch them on the court, but to be part of a game that they’ve been rooting for for so long.
“I’ve been a fan since I was little, and I’ve never really had a chance to be on the other side of the ball,” said Josh Robinson, a graduate of the school.
“And to have that opportunity, I think, is pretty cool.”
The hashtag was created by the Maryland Basketball Association, a non-profit organization that provides support to the football team and the men’s basketball team.
“For us to have something that’s so iconic, and to make it something that people will be able to follow, and see it on the scoreboard, I was a little hesitant,” said Brian Jones, the Maryland head coach.
“That’s what this was really about.
We wanted to create something that felt like it was happening in the basketball stadium, and on the floor,” he added.
Jones said that this season, he has been able to watch players practice and play in a similar way to when they were in high school.
“And I think for our students, we want to be able just to see them as the athletes that they are,” he said.
The Maryland Basketball Schedule, which includes games against Maryland, Maryland Tech, Stony Brook and St. Mary’s, will begin on March 4 and will run through March 8.
The Maryland men’s and women’s basketball schedules will begin March 9.
This is the second year that Maryland has taken a basketball approach to its schedule.
In 2015, the school started with a different hashtag, “The Blue” which meant “Blue Is the Warmest Color” in reference to its home team.
“We’re not trying to say anything different, we’re just saying that we want the games to be really memorable and fun,” Jones said.
Jones explained that the goal for the season is to bring Maryland fans back to the stadium to see the team play, and then the fans to watch the games from afar as they happen.
“Every single week is different.
You’re going back to school, you’re going home, you are not going back home,” he explained.
“You’re not just going to see your friends, but you’re not going to go home.
You want to see people in your life, and you want to experience something that is different.”
