Badger basketball schedules: WSU, Oregon, Colorado, UCLA and Oregon State coming out of a break
Breaking: Badgers basketball and NCAA men’s basketball will be out of NCAA tournaments through Jan. 1, 2018, but the Badgers will be in action on a regular basis through 2019.
The Badgers return all their regular season home games to the campus in Green Bay, Wis., for the 2017-18 season.
They will also play six of their final seven home games, beginning with an Oct. 12 home game against the Northwestern Wildcats.
The Badgers open the season Oct. 17 against No. 13 Wisconsin in Madison, but will also host a Sept. 28 game against No, 6 Stanford at the Wells Fargo Center in Fargo, N.D. The next two games against Oregon State and Oregon are slated for Dec. 1 and Dec. 15, respectively.WSU will be the first Pac-12 Conference team to be out on the road for a full season since Washington State (20-9, 10-4 Pac-10) and UCLA (20.5-9.5, 12-3 Pac-15) were in the conference from 2007-08 to 2010-11.
The WSU men’s program, which will be without All-Pac-12 second-team selection and All-American center Justin Patton (torn ACL), will be looking to build on its impressive 2015-16 campaign with a win or a loss in the regular season.
The Bears have won five straight games, their longest winning streak since 2001.WISU will be coming off its first-ever NCAA Tournament appearance in the 2017 tournament, as the Badger women finished No. 10 in the polls with a 15-9 overall record and a 13-3 mark in the tournament.
The Wildcats defeated Oregon State 83-75 in the second round of the NCAA Tournament.
The team’s win over the Ducks also capped a four-game winning streak that was snapped by Arizona State (27-5, 14-4).
The Wildcats, ranked No. 3 in the AP poll and No. 9 in the final AP poll, will face the Badgs in the round of 64 on Saturday in Greensboro, N, N., for a chance to advance to the second half of the tournament in the semifinals.
Oregon State, which had not won a conference game since 2008-09, has been the most consistent Pac-8 team in the nation this season.
In fact, the Beavers are the only Pac-4 team to finish in the top 10 of the AP Poll twice in the last three seasons.
They beat Oregon 76-60 on Nov. 18 in Greensburg, Wisc., and also beat Oregon State 84-77 on Nov .
20 in Eugene, Ore., for their first conference victory since 2007.
The Beavers were outscored by 22 points in the paint and outrebounded 52-35, but scored 24 points in overtime against Oregon.
They are coming off their best defensive effort of the season.
Oregon is one of the best teams in the Pac-16 in the preseason poll, and will likely face a tough schedule in the postseason.
The Ducks have played four of their first six conference games on the West Coast.
The Pac-20 and Pac-9 Conference teams will be at home on Oct. 4-6 against Cal Poly, which is expected to be one of Pac-6 and Pac
